19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Currently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his first championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from spring of that year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has won 21 championships at 21 various competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the maiden victory I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

He came back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional championship, took control to create a final set.

He rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner secured the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
